Project Advisory
Upgrade of Existing Water Treatment Facilities
£130,000,000 ($234,000,000)
Northern Ireland Water Service proposed an upgrade and increase in capacity of four existing water treatment works to meet increasing potable water supply demands projected through the year 2030. These four facilities are responsible for the treatment of approximately 50% of Northern Ireland’s current water production capacity. The project, referred to as “Project Alpha,” is being funded through a Public-Private-Partnership (PPP).
GREYHAWK was hired by Earth-Tech UK Ltd, one of the partners to the PPP consortia, to provide project advisory services during the design and construction phases. These services included peer reviews and recommendations regarding the managements systems of scheduling and cost control; change management and document control; contract administration; and reporting.
Some of the facilities included in Project Alpha and their treatment capacities include:
- Dunore Point WTW (photo above) – Total supply of 180 Million Liters/Day
- Castor Bay WTW – Total supply of 147 Million Liters/Day
- Moyola Point WTW – Total supply of 19 Million Liters/Day
