GREYHAWK has been monitoring work for the New Jersey School Construction Corporation’s (SCC) $8.6 billion Abbott School Program, a state-wide school construction initiative. This is the largest public construction program ever undertaken by the State of New Jersey, and is one of the largest of its type to be implemented in the nation.
GREYHAWK's project team is managing multiple projects in six different school districts across the state, each with demanding delivery schedules; costs range from $9 million to $70 million. When complete, this program will provide students with greater access to modern technology and advanced facilities. LEED compliant sustainable design and reduced costs to future building maintenance has been a major focus during the design phase.
GREYHAWK functions as an extension of SCC’s staff, providing oversight during both the design and construction phases including budgeting, site selection, design development, swing space requirements, permitting, approvals, bidding, construction, start-up and close-out. GREYHAWK also customized a comprehensive web-based communication system to efficiently report and document project activity to all project participants.
In addition to projects already identified by the SCC, GREYHAWK has recommended additional potential projects based on our inspections of the schools in each district. In some cases, the SCC and the respective districts have modified their long-range plans to incorporate our recommendations.
With GREYHAWK’s oversight of careful scheduling, schools have remained open and operational during construction. Our involvement has minimized inconveniences to students and faculty and maximized site safety.
